Fiverr No longer Accepting Bitcoins

We recently heard fiverr has stopped accepting bitcoin as a form of payment. Fiverr is one of the top global freelance services marketplace. The site offered “gigs” that were created by other users and vendors. The gigs were extensive, from seo to music production. Fiverr used to support Bitcoin and had accepted Bitcoin for almost 3 years. They have only recently stopped accepting bitcoin as a form of payment and a clear answer has not yet been stated by fiverr.

According to an article on Bitcoinist; the author contacted fiverr and asked why they were no longer accepting bitcoin for payments. The author stated that he received a response from Fiver with a very vague answer of  ” It was Purely A Business Decision” . The reason or reasons that Fiverr has now turned away from accepting bitcoin as a form of payment on their website is not  known. They ,however, are very unlikely to make a change back and accept bitcoin for payment any time soon. It is speculated that the change came after the IRS went after Coinbase, which is still an ongoing matter. They may be worried about tax evasion and penalties from the past three years worth of bitcoin transactions. It may also be due to the recent rise and possible fall in the price of bitcoin. The answer will not be known until fiverr releases a statement and even then it may be a blank answer. In either case the change has been made and fiverr is no longer accepting bitcoins as a form of payment.

Did you use Bitcoin as a form of payment on Fiverr? Since they stopped accepting bitcoin will you stop using or maybe limit your usage of fiverr?  We don’t blame you, not at all. Bitcoin is the payment method of the future. If you want to continue using Bitcoin as a payment form, or if you were a vendor and would like to receive payment in bitcoin, the good news is that there is an existing Bitcoin marketplace. You can Buy, Sell, and get Paid in Bitcoin, and with lower fees.
